Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Dwarf Mix’ | The Petal Pop
Purple · Crimson · Pink · White
Airy, daisy-like flowers dancing on fern-fine foliage all summer. No garden, no greenhouse, no clue required either — that's rather the point.
The Cosmos 'Dwarf Mix' grow kit is a plastic-free, beginner-friendly planting kit with (almost) everything you need to grow cosmos from seed in a container — compact plants smothered in bright, daisy-like blooms of purple, crimson, pink and white, above delicate, ferny leaves.
Being a dwarf type it stays neat and bushy — perfectly happy in a pot on a doorstep, balcony or sunny ledge — and it's a lovely cut flower: snip a jam-jar posy and the plant simply makes more, right into autumn.
Not one for the vase? A quick deadhead of the faded blooms does the same job.
Cosmos is also a magnet for bees and butterflies, so this little flower grow kit pulls its weight for pollinators.
New to growing? This is one of the easiest flowers to start from seed — fast, forgiving, and it genuinely prefers a bit of benign neglect to fussing. Poor-ish soil and the odd missed watering suit it fine; overfeed or overwater and you'll get lush leaves and few flowers. The more you cut or deadhead, the more it gives. A proper beginner gardener's win.
One honest heads-up: cosmos is half-hardy, which is a polite way of saying it's a softie about the cold. It hates frost and sulks in chilly soil, so up here in Scotland the rule is simple — don't rush it outside. Warmth first, flowers later.

FAQs
Is this cosmos grow kit suitable for beginners?
Yes — cosmos is one of the easiest flowers to grow from seed, and it actually prefers a bit of neglect to fussing. As a dwarf type it needs no staking, thrives in a pot, and flowers all summer with just the odd deadhead. No garden or experience needed.
Can I grow cosmos in a pot or container?
Yes — this compact dwarf cosmos (roughly 40–60cm) is well suited to pots. Use a container at least 30cm (12in) wide and deep, with drainage holes, and free-draining peat-free compost, in full sun (6+ hours a day). Two or three plants share a 30cm pot nicely.
What do I need to supply myself?
Just free-draining peat-free compost and a container at least 30cm (12in) wide and deep with drainage holes. The kit provides the seeds, a gentle seaweed feed, potassium-rich comfrey pellets and a plain-English grow guide.
Is the packaging plastic-free?
Yes — the kit is plastic-free, and we post it plastic-free too.
Where do you deliver?
We ship across mainland Great Britain. We can't post seeds or planting material to Northern Ireland — that's a Royal Mail restriction on sending seeds, not our choice.

The basics: compost, container & light
New to this? Here's what's true for every kit we sell.
Compost — you supply your own peat-free compost. Any good bag will do. We don't include it (it's heavy, and you may already have some).
Container — almost anything with drainage holes works: an upcycled bucket, a trough, a big pot. No holes means waterlogged roots, so make some if there aren't any. We don't send a planter on purpose — growing in what you've already got is cheaper and greener.
Light — most things want a bright spot: a sunny windowsill, or outside once the weather's kind. Each guide tells you what that plant prefers.
Gardening, minus the gatekeeping. If a step ever reads like jargon, that's on us, not you.
